Race to the Final Six: Alpine Water Polo League Showdown

The sixth and final tournament of the Alpine Water Polo League will take place on Saturday and Sunday. A look at the rankings shows that the current top six teams will also qualify for the Final Six tournament, which is set to take place between 27 February and 1 March in Kranj.

The top of the rankings is currently occupied by Mladost from Zagreb, followed by the reigning champions Triglav, Opatija, and Trieste. The fifth-placed Dragons from Ljubljana still have a chance to climb higher. Calcit managed to take a point from Graz after the match was decided by a penalty shootout. As predicted, the final matches will be very intense, with six red cards issued in Rovinj.

Mitruk Adam (ASV Wien) remains the league’s top scorer with 34 goals, followed by Triglav’s Troppan Aljaž. Another Vienna player, Szávai Károly, completes the top five with 26 goals. At almost 35 years old, he is actively involved in both coaching and playing.
